Je vous demande d'accuellir ce soir Diana Krall.
l love the East l love the West
North and South, they're both the best But l only want go there as a guest
'Cause l love being here with you l love the sea, l love the shore
l love the rocks and what is more With you and they never be a bore
'Cause l love being here with you
Singing in the shower Laughing by the hour
Love is such a crazy game
l love all kinds of weather As long as we're together
l love to hear you say my name l love good wine, fine cuisine
Candle light l love the scene But baby if you know just what l mean
l love being here with you
l love Ella singing Basie's band is swinging
'Cause that's something else you know They knew how to play it
They knew how to say it They just wind it up and let it go
l love the thrill that Paris show l love to kiss you on your nose
Just let me say before l close l love being here with you
l love being here with you
All or nothing at all
Half a love
Never appealed to me
lf your heart Never would yield to me
Then l'd rather have Nothing at all
All or nothing at all
lf it's love
There ain't no in-between Why begin and cry
Over something That might have been
No, l'd rather have Nothing at all
Please don't put your lips So close to my cheek
Don't smile or l'll be lost Beyond recall
The kiss in your eyes
The touch of your hand Makes me weak
And my heart may grow Dizzy and fall
And if l fell under the spell Of your call
l would be caught in the undertow
So you see l've got to say no, no
All or nothing at all
All or nothing at all
Please don't put your lips So close to my cheek
Don't smile or l'll be lost Beyond recall
The kiss in your eyes The touch of your hand makes me weak
And my heart may grow Dizzy and fall
And if l fell under the spell Of your call
l would be caught in the undertow
So you see l've got to say no, no
All or
Nothing at all
Nothing at all
Thank you. How're you doing?
Nice to see you, nice to be here.
This have been an amazing, amazing few days for us, for me.
lt's very special to have these amazing musicians with me, the last four days.
And l'd like to introduce you to all of them.
Please welcome on percussion, Paulinho da Costa.
On guitar, Anthony Wilson.
On acoustic guitar, John Pisano.
And these two gentlemen... on the bass...
John Clayton.
And on the drums, Jeff Hamilton.
When l was... when l was 16 years old...
l can remember then...
l was practicing a lot, l had my own trio...
even if you don't care, l'm gonna tell you anyway.
But l had my own trio and what l did...
l practiced along to records, many records...
and transcribed tunes and transcribed arrangements.
And l had a wish. l used to practice along to Jeff Hamilton and John Clayton.
And l never thought l'd have the chance to play with them.
So we met last week, and we talked about it...
and they agreed, so...
l'm very honored to have these two gentlemen with me this evening.
Please, give them a hand.
l have a feeling, it's a feeling
l'm concealing l don't know why
lt'sjust a mental A sentimental alibi
But l adore you
So strong for you
Why go on stalling, love is calling l am falling
Why be shy?
Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love?
Our hearts are made for it Let's take a chance
Why be afraid of it
l'll tell you why
Let's close our eyes And make our own paradise
Little we know of it, still we can try To make a go of it
We might have been meant for each other
To be or not be Let our hearts discover
Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love
Now is the time for it While we are young
Let's fall in love
We might have been meant for each other
To be or not be Let our hearts discover
Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love?
Now is the time for it While we are young
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
Thank you. That was an arrangement by one of my...
favorite arrangers, Johnny Mandel.
lt's inspired by an arrangement he actually did for Frank Sinatra...
on an album called ''Ring a Ding Ding''. You all have that, so you know that.
This next song was written by Bacharach and David...
and arranged by another one of my very, very favorite...
arrangers and composers, Mr. Claus Ogerman.
The look of love
ls in your eyes
A look Your smile can't disguise
The look of love
ls saying so much more
Than just words could ever say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away
l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you
How long l have waited Waited just to love you
Now that l have found you You've got the look of love
lt's on your face
A look
That time can't erase
Be mine tonight
Let this bejust the start
Of so many nights like this
Let's take a lover's vow
And then seal it with a kiss
l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you
How long l have waited Waited just to love you
Now that l have found you Don't ever go
Don't ever go
l love you so
l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you
How long l have waited Waited just to love you
Now that l have found you Don't ever go
Don't ever go
Don't ever go
Ladies and gentlemen, Alan Broadbent...
conducting the European segment of this show.
This next arrangement was also written by Claus Ogerman, who you know l love.
What l love about Claus is that he's had a tremendous influence on me...
and to finally have the chance to work with him.
We met and we talked very cinematically.
He was describing a piece of music as Edward G. Robinson on a bridge...
on a foggy night. And wejust clicked.
lt was tremendous. Which has nothing to do with this next song.
l don't want you to think about Edward G. Robinson while l'm singing this, ok?
lt was arranged by Claus Ogerman, written by Gallop and Bloom.
Each time l see a crowd of people
Just like a fool l stop and stare
lt's really not The proper thing to do
But maybe you'll be there
l go out walking after midnight
Along the lonely thoroughfare
lt's not the time
But maybe you'll be there
You said your arms always hold me
You said your lips were mine alone To kiss
Now after all those things you told me
How could it end like this
Someday if all my prayers are answered
l'll hear a footstep on the stair
With anxious heart l'll hurry to the door
And maybe you'll be there
You said your arms always hold me
You said your lips were mine alone To kiss
Now after all those things you told me
How could it end like this
Someday if all my prayers are answered
l'll hear a footstep on the stair
With anxious heart l'll hurry to the door
And maybe you'll be there
Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
l'm glad that l'm the one who found you
And that's why l'm always Hanging 'round you
Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
l'm glad that l'm the one who found you
That's why l'm always Hanging 'round you
Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey
Deed l do
No cares for me l'm happy as l can be
l've learned to love and to live Devil may care
No cares and woes Whatever comes later goes
That's how l'll take and l'll give Devil may care
When the day is through l suffer no regrets
l know that he who frets Loses the night
For only a fool thinks he can Hold back the dawn
He who is wise never tries to revise What's past and gone
Live love today Let come tomorrow what may
Don't even stop for a sigh lt doesn't help if you cry
That's how l'll live and l'll die Devil may care
No cares for me l'm happy as l can be
l've learned to love and to live Devil may care
No cares and woes Whatever comes later goes
That's how l'll take and l'll give Devil may care
When the day is through l suffer no regrets
l know that he who frets Loses the night
For only a fool thinks he can Hold back the dawn
He who is wise never tries to revise What's past and gone
Live love today Let come tomorrow what may
Don't even stop for a sigh lt doesn't help if you cry
That's how l'll live and l'll die Devil may care
Devil may Devil may care
Paulinho da Costa.
Anthony Wilson.
John Clayton...
and Jeff Hamilton.
Now you say you're lonely
You cry the whole night through
Well, you can Cry me a river
Cry me a river
l cried a river over you
Now you say you're sorry
For being so untrue
Well, you can Cry me a river
Cry me a river
l cried a river over you
You drove me, nearly drove me Out of my head
While you never shed a tear
Remember
l remember all that you said
You told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me
And now you say you love me
Well, just to prove you do
Come on and Cry me a river
Cry me a river
l cried a river over you
You drove me, nearly drove me Out of my head
While you never shed a tear
Remember
l remember all that you said
You told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me
And now you say you love me
Well, just to prove you do
You can Cry me a river
Cry me a river
l cried a river over you
l cried a river over you
l cried a river
Anthony Wilson.
Song by Arthur Hamilton.
l've got you
Under my skin
l have got you
Deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart
You're really a part of me
And l've got you
Under my skin
l have tried so
Not to give in
l've said to myself this affair lt never would go so well
But why should l try to resist When l know you so well
That l've got you
Under my skin
l would sacrifice anything Come what might
For the sake of having you near
ln spite of a warning voice
That comes in the night And repeats in my ear
Don't you know you fool
You never can win
Use your mentality
Wake up to reality
For each time l do
Just the thought of you Makes me stop before l begin
Because l've got you
Under my skin
l would sacrifice anything Come what might
For the sake
Of having you near ln spite of a warning voice
That comes in the night
And repeats in my ear
Don't you know you fool
You never can win
Use your mentality
Wake up to reality
For each time l do Just the thought of you
Makes me stop Before l begin
Because l've got you
Under
My skin
East of the sun
And west of the moon
We'll build a dream house Of love dear
Close to the sun in the day Near to the moon at night
We'll live in a lovely way dear
Sharing our love in the pale moonlight
Just you and l Forever and a day
Love will not die We'll keep it that way
Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune
East of the sun
West of the moon Dear
East of the sun and west of the moon
East of the sun
And west of the moon
We'll build a dream house Of love dear
Close to the sun in the day Near to the moon at night
We'll live in a lovely way dear
Sharing our love in the pale moonlight
Just you and l Forever and a day
Love will not die We'll keep it that way
Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune
East of the sun West of the moon
Dear
East of the sun and west of the moon
West of the moon
John Clayton.
l get along without you very well
Of course l do
Except when soft rains fall
And drip from leaves Then l recall
The thrill of being sheltered
ln your arms
Of course, l do
But l get along without you
Very well
l've forgotten you just
Like l should
Of course l have
Except to hear your name
Or someone's laugh that is the same
But l've forgotten you just Like l should
What a guy
What a fool am l
To think my breaking heart Could kid the moon
What's in store?
Should l phone once more?
No, it's best that l Stick to my tune
l get along without you very well
Of course l do
Except perhaps in Spring
But l should never think of Spring
For that would surely Break my heart
ln two
Nothing's impossible l have found
For when my chin is on the ground l pick myself up
Dust myself off Start all over again
Don't lose your confidence if you slip Be grateful for a pleasant trip
And pick yourself up
Dust yourself off And start all over again
Work like a soul inspired Till the battle of the day is won
You may be sick and tired
But you'll be a man my son
Don't you remember the famous men Who had to fall to rise again?
They picked themselves up
Dust themselves off And started all over again
Work like a soul inspired Till the battle of the day is won
You may be sick and tired
But you'll be a man my son
Don't you remember the famous men Who had to fall to rise again?
They picked themselves up
Dust themselves off And started all over again
And started all over again
lt's my great honor...
to introduce to you...
Claus Ogerman.
'S wonderful
'S marvelous
That you should care for me
'S awful nice
'S paradise
'S what l love to see
You've made my life
So glamorous
You can't blame me for feeling amorous
Oh! 'S wonderful Marvelous
That you should care For me
'S wonderful
'S marvelous
That you should care for me
'S awful nice
'S paradise
'S what l love to see
My dear, it's four-leaf clover time
From now on My heart's working overtime
'S wonderful 'S marvelous
That you should care for me
'S wonderful 'S marvelous
That you should care for me
'S awful nice
'S paradise
'S what l love to see
You've made my life
So glamorous
You can't blame me For feeling amorous
Oh! 'S wonderful
Marvelous
That you should care for me
John Pisano.
Paulinho da Costa.
Jeff Hamilton. John Clayton.
And Claus Ogerman, arranger, conductor...
of the Orchestre Symphonique Européen.
l don't think there's anything...
that we do up here...
that isn't in some way...
inspired by Nat King Cole.
ln some way...
and this song's definitely inspired for me by Nat King Cole.
The sky may be starless The night may be moonless
But deep in my heart there's A glow for
Deep in my heart
l know that you love me
You love me
Because you told me
So
Love letters
Straight from your heart
Keep us so near while we're apart
l'm not alone in the night
When l can have All the love you write
l memorize every line
l kiss the name that you sign
And darling then l read again Right from the start
Love letters Straight from your heart
l memorize every line
l kiss the name that you sign
And darling then l read again Right from the start
Love letters Straight from your
Heart
Claus Ogerman, European Symphony Orchestra.
Please, stand up.
lt was a pretty big deal.
Enjoyed that very much.
l know a little bit About a lot of things
But l don't know enough about you
Just when l think you're mine You try a different line
And baby, what can l do?
l read the latest news No buttons on my shoes
Baby, l'm confused about you
You've got me in a spin and What a spin l'm in
'Cause l don't know enough about you
Jack-of-all-trades, master of none And isn't it a shame
l'm so sure that you'd be good for me lf you'd only play my game
You know l went to school l'm nobody's fool
That is to say until l met you
l know a little bit about A lot of things
But l don't know enough about you
Anthony Wilson, show me
Jack-of-all-trades, master of none And isn't it a shame
l'm so sure that you'd be good for me
lf you'd only play my game
You know l went to school l'm nobody's fool
That is to say until l met you
l know a little bit about A lot of things
But l don't know enough about
l know a bit about biology
A little more about psychology
l'm a little gem in geology
But l don't know enough about you
No, l don't know enough about you
No, l don't know enough about you
Ohh
Do it again
l may say no, no, no
But do it again
My lipsjust ache
To have you take
The kiss that's waiting for you
You know if you do
You won't regret it
Come and get it Ohh
No one is near
l may cry oh, oh, oh
But no one can hear
Mama may scold me
'Cause she told me
lt was naughty But then
Please do it again
Just do it again
Come and get it, ohh
Turn out the light
And hold me close
Close in your arms
All through the...
Mama may scold me
'Cause she told me
lt was naughty But then
Please
Do it again
Just do it again and again
And again and again and again
And again and again
Just do it again
Arrangements by John Clayton and Johnny Mandel.
Thank you once again. John Pisano.
John Clayton.
Jeff Hamilton.
Anthony Wilson.
Paulinho da Costa.
And Alan Broadbent conducting the European Symphony Orchestra.
Thank you, God bless you.
We love you, Paris. Thank you so very much. Merci beaucoup.
Actually...
my mama may scold me...
and so may my father, because they're both here this evening.
lt's very nice.
lt's nice when your parents are here, 'cause they can laugh of yourjokes.
Even if they're not funny.
Just before our love got lost you said
l am as constant as a northern star And l said
Constantly in the darkness Where's that at?
lf you want me l'll be in the bar
On the back of a cartoon coaster
ln the blue TV screen light
l drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter And you taste so sweet
l could drink
A case of you
Darling
And l would still be on my feet l would still be on my feet
Oh l am a lonely painter
l live in a box of paints
l'm frightened by the devil and l'm Drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
l remember that time you told me Love is touching souls
Surely you touched mine
Part of you pours out of me ln these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter And you taste so sweet
l could drink a case of you
l could drink a case of you Darling
Still, l'd be on my feet l would still be on my feet
l met a woman She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds She said
Go to him Stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed
Oh but you are in my blood Like holy wine
You taste so bitter And you taste so sweet
l could drink a case of you
Darling
And still be on my feet l would still be on my feet
