By nightfall, 2nd battalion had secured Sainte Marie-du-Mont, and elements of the 4th division were beginning to move men and material inland. Most of the 101st airborne, including Easy company, were still scattered all over Normandy, and the success of the invasion was far from certain. We had an hour to rest and scrounge whatever food we could before we had to move south and secure the town of Coup de Ville. I don't wanna die in the back of this damn truck, is what.
