How're you doing? Nice to see you, nice to be here. This have been an amazing, amazing few days for us, for me. lt's very special to have these amazing musicians with me, the last four days. And l'd like to introduce you to all of them. Please welcome on percussion, Paulinho da Costa. On guitar, Anthony Wilson. On acoustic guitar, John Pisano. And these two gentlemen... on the bass... John Clayton. And on the drums, Jeff Hamilton. When l was... when l was 16 years old... l can remember then... l was practicing a lot, l had my own trio... even if you don't care, l'm gonna tell you anyway. But l had my own trio and what l did... l practiced along to records, many records... and transcribed tunes and transcribed arrangements. And l had a wish. l used to practice along to Jeff Hamilton and John Clayton. And l never thought l'd have the chance to play with them. So we met last week, and we talked about it... and they agreed, so... l'm very honored to have these two gentlemen with me this evening. Please, give them a hand. l have a feeling, it's a feeling l'm concealing l don't know why lt'sjust a mental A sentimental alibi But l adore you So strong for you Why go on stalling, love is calling l am falling Why be shy? Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love? Our hearts are made for it Let's take a chance Why be afraid of it l'll tell you why Let's close our eyes And make our own paradise Little we know of it, still we can try To make a go of it We might have been meant for each other To be or not be Let our hearts discover Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love Now is the time for it While we are young Let's fall in love We might have been meant for each other To be or not be Let our hearts discover Let's fall in love Why shouldn't we fall in love? Now is the time for it While we are young Let's fall in love Let's fall in love Let's fall in love Let's fall in love Thank you. That was an arrangement by one of my... favorite arrangers, Johnny Mandel. lt's inspired by an arrangement he actually did for Frank Sinatra... on an album called ''Ring a Ding Ding''. You all have that, so you know that. This next song was written by Bacharach and David... and arranged by another one of my very, very favorite... arrangers and composers, Mr. Claus Ogerman. The look of love ls in your eyes A look Your smile can't disguise The look of love ls saying so much more Than just words could ever say And what my heart has heard Well it takes my breath away l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you How long l have waited Waited just to love you Now that l have found you You've got the look of love lt's on your face A look That time can't erase Be mine tonight Let this bejust the start Of so many nights like this Let's take a lover's vow And then seal it with a kiss l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you How long l have waited Waited just to love you Now that l have found you Don't ever go Don't ever go l love you so l can hardly wait to hold you Feel my arms around you How long l have waited Waited just to love you Now that l have found you Don't ever go Don't ever go Don't ever go Ladies and gentlemen, Alan Broadbent... conducting the European segment of this show. This next arrangement was also written by Claus Ogerman, who you know l love. What l love about Claus is that he's had a tremendous influence on me... and to finally have the chance to work with him. We met and we talked very cinematically. He was describing a piece of music as Edward G. Robinson on a bridge... on a foggy night. And wejust clicked. lt was tremendous. Which has nothing to do with this next song. l don't want you to think about Edward G. Robinson while l'm singing this, ok? lt was arranged by Claus Ogerman, written by Gallop and Bloom. Each time l see a crowd of people Just like a fool l stop and stare lt's really not The proper thing to do But maybe you'll be there l go out walking after midnight Along the lonely thoroughfare lt's not the time But maybe you'll be there You said your arms always hold me You said your lips were mine alone To kiss Now after all those things you told me How could it end like this Someday if all my prayers are answered l'll hear a footstep on the stair With anxious heart l'll hurry to the door And maybe you'll be there You said your arms always hold me You said your lips were mine alone To kiss Now after all those things you told me How could it end like this Someday if all my prayers are answered l'll hear a footstep on the stair With anxious heart l'll hurry to the door And maybe you'll be there Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do l'm glad that l'm the one who found you And that's why l'm always Hanging 'round you Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do Do l love you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do l'm glad that l'm the one who found you That's why l'm always Hanging 'round you Do l want you? Oh my, do l, honey Deed l do No cares for me l'm happy as l can be l've learned to love and to live Devil may care No cares and woes Whatever comes later goes That's how l'll take and l'll give Devil may care When the day is through l suffer no regrets l know that he who frets Loses the night For only a fool thinks he can Hold back the dawn He who is wise never tries to revise What's past and gone Live love today Let come tomorrow what may Don't even stop for a sigh lt doesn't help if you cry That's how l'll live and l'll die Devil may care No cares for me l'm happy as l can be l've learned to love and to live Devil may care No cares and woes Whatever comes later goes That's how l'll take and l'll give Devil may care When the day is through l suffer no regrets l know that he who frets Loses the night For only a fool thinks he can Hold back the dawn He who is wise never tries to revise What's past and gone Live love today Let come tomorrow what may Don't even stop for a sigh lt doesn't help if you cry That's how l'll live and l'll die Devil may care Devil may Devil may care Paulinho da Costa. Anthony Wilson. John Clayton... and Jeff Hamilton. Now you say you're lonely You cry the whole night through Well, you can Cry me a river Cry me a river l cried a river over you Now you say you're sorry For being so untrue Well, you can Cry me a river Cry me a river l cried a river over you You drove me, nearly drove me Out of my head While you never shed a tear Remember l remember all that you said You told me love was too plebeian Told me you were through with me And now you say you love me Well, just to prove you do Come on and Cry me a river Cry me a river l cried a river over you You drove me, nearly drove me Out of my head While you never shed a tear Remember l remember all that you said You told me love was too plebeian Told me you were through with me And now you say you love me Well, just to prove you do You can Cry me a river Cry me a river l cried a river over you l cried a river over you l cried a river Anthony Wilson. Song by Arthur Hamilton. l've got you Under my skin l have got you Deep in the heart of me So deep in my heart You're really a part of me And l've got you Under my skin l have tried so Not to give in l've said to myself this affair lt never would go so well But why should l try to resist When l know you so well That l've got you Under my skin l would sacrifice anything Come what might For the sake of having you near ln spite of a warning voice That comes in the night And repeats in my ear Don't you know you fool You never can win Use your mentality Wake up to reality For each time l do Just the thought of you Makes me stop before l begin Because l've got you Under my skin l would sacrifice anything Come what might For the sake Of having you near ln spite of a warning voice That comes in the night And repeats in my ear Don't you know you fool You never can win Use your mentality Wake up to reality For each time l do Just the thought of you Makes me stop Before l begin Because l've got you Under My skin East of the sun And west of the moon We'll build a dream house Of love dear Close to the sun in the day Near to the moon at night We'll live in a lovely way dear Sharing our love in the pale moonlight Just you and l Forever and a day Love will not die We'll keep it that way Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune East of the sun West of the moon Dear East of the sun and west of the moon East of the sun And west of the moon We'll build a dream house Of love dear Close to the sun in the day Near to the moon at night We'll live in a lovely way dear Sharing our love in the pale moonlight Just you and l Forever and a day Love will not die We'll keep it that way Up among the stars we'll find A harmony of life to a lovely tune East of the sun West of the moon Dear East of the sun and west of the moon West of the moon John Clayton. l get along without you very well Of course l do Except when soft rains fall And drip from leaves Then l recall The thrill of being sheltered ln your arms Of course, l do But l get along without you Very well l've forgotten you just Like l should Of course l have Except to hear your name Or someone's laugh that is the same But l've forgotten you just Like l should What a guy What a fool am l To think my breaking heart Could kid the moon What's in store? Should l phone once more? No, it's best that l Stick to my tune l get along without you very well Of course l do Except perhaps in Spring But l should never think of Spring For that would surely Break my heart ln two Nothing's impossible l have found For when my chin is on the ground l pick myself up Dust myself off Start all over again Don't lose your confidence if you slip Be grateful for a pleasant trip And pick yourself up Dust yourself off And start all over again Work like a soul inspired Till the battle of the day is won You may be sick and tired But you'll be a man my son Don't you remember the famous men Who had to fall to rise again? They picked themselves up Dust themselves off And started all over again Work like a soul inspired Till the battle of the day is won You may be sick and tired But you'll be a man my son Don't you remember the famous men Who had to fall to rise again? They picked themselves up Dust themselves off And started all over again And started all over again lt's my great honor... to introduce to you... Claus Ogerman.
