Good afternoon, and welcome aboard your Allegiance charter with service into Denver, Colorado. As a reminder, federal law does require that all your carry-on bags be stored securely and beneath the chair... - 15, 15, green light. - 15, 15, green light. (Paul McCartney) I sometimes will talk to people who say, "What are you doing?" I say, "I'm going out on tour. " "How long you away for?" "Oh, you know, about 8 weeks. " "What?" You know, like it's a frightening thing to step out the front door and go away for 8 weeks. For some people, it's a problem. I like it. I'm used to it. Hey, Rusty! How you're feeling? Okay? Feeling better now? I'll kick ass if it's needed. But they all know that. There's no food for anyone! Spank Walley! Thank you. That'll be enough. (Paul McCartney) In the early Beatles' career, we worked so hard in Hamburg. Then we came back to England. Then, when we toured America, we toured the world. We were working then, I think it was something like 360 days a year. Certainly 350. So I like travelling. I like playing, I love music. It's who I am. See you, Washington. ["Back In The U.S.S.R.'' You know, like everyone, we felt very helpless. We weren't firefighters. We weren't rescue workers. So it was this terrible feeling that we were here in America, and it was like, "What can I do? I've got to do something. " We'd like you to join in and help us with this one, stomping your feet and clapping your hands like this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [Intro To "Freedom'' Playing] This is my right A right given by God To live a free life To live in freedom We're talkin' 'bout freedom We're talkin' 'bout free-dom I will fight for the right To live in freedom... (PaulMcCartney) We were on the tarmac at JFKat 8.:45 when the captain just sort of stopped the plane and said, "There's been a terrible accident. " We could see it out the window. We were experiencing it with the American people. We got the fullshock of it. In that next week, we started hatching plans to try and do something. ...Freedom We're talkin' 'bout free-dom We will fight for the right To live in freedom Yeah, you're talkin' 'bout freedom We're talkin' 'bout free-dom We will fight for the right To live in freeeeee-dom [Music Ends] [Cheers And Applause] (PaulMcCartney) It's something I'm really glad we did, 'cause it really did help New Yorkers'spirits, and I think the rest of the country. And it helped us too, you know? We had somewhere to put our feelings and some way to show our solidarity for the American people. [Intro To "Let It Be'' Playing] When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be Ooh, let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be And when the broken-hearted people Living in the world agree There will be an answer Let it be For though they may be parted There is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer Let it be Ooh, let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be Yeah, there will be an answer Let it be Ooh, let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be Oh, let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be And when the night is cloudy There is still a light that shines on me Shine until tomorrow Let it be I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be There will be an answer Let it be Oh, let it be Won't you let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let if be, ya-hee Let it be [Cheers And Applause] (PauLMcCartney) I've been a veggie for over 25 years. I feel great. Hi! I'm Matt. I'm going to show you around the kitchen. You got a real scope of vegetarian food. You can do anything, really, as long as it doesn't contain meat. Yeah. It's a lot of meals. It's a lot of fun actually. [Automated Voice] Stop! Move away from the cookiejar! Ah, damn it, I'm not gonna! [Laughing] I'll see you in a bit, you guys. I'm gonna go and see my fellow apes. (Paul McCartney) If things get a llittlle bit boring, we have our ways of rellieving the boredom. And one of them is just by monkeying around. Hey, hey, we're The Monkeys People say we monkey around Here's the schedule now. It's approximately 1 1 :45, okay? He will leave the hotel at 1 2:30. At 1 2:30, he goes on to a location, which he gets there about 1 :00. He's going to play instruments with the apes. 'Cause they got these apes down here that can communicate. They have about a 20,000 word vocabulary. They're actually on a superior level to us. Hi, Holly. How are you? I'm excellent. Thank you. This is Heather. Heather is going to be our dynamite assistant today. This is my Heather. We have 8 bonobos and 4 chimps. They're very intelligent. And the ones here have learned to use symbols on a board, which we'll show you. And now, they're talking. And sometimes they try to sing. And the idea is to have apes be able to use the Internet to communicate. Sugarcane. Can I try a little bit? Can I bite some? (Susan) They're pretty happy, or they wouldn't be doing this in your presence. Mmm. That's good. Thank you. Try a little bit? Oh, that's good. That's Kanzi. This is Paul. He's very good on the piano. - Well, a little bit good. - No, he's very good. Du-du-du-du Kanzi Tango, Kanzi Tango Kanzi Tango, Kanzi Tango Wo, wo, wo - Yeah! - All right. Kanzi Tango. It's like they know what you're saying. And I had one of them want me to get a hose out, he signed, it said on the thing, ah, 'hose', you know. He wanted a shower. Give it to me, Duke. Yes, sir, that water feels good. And I said, "Okay, come on down, now,'' on his front here to hit him. And I said, "Get his bollocks. Pop it to me, pop it on out. Yes, clean those bollocks! They totally understood it. And we played with them. This is Abe. And Abe plays the drums. We kind of do little vocal warm-ups in our dressing room before we go on. Hey,Jude, refrain Don't carry the world Upon your shoulders... And then we have a guy who calls us, who says, "Ten minutes to show...'' [Mimicking Monkey Noises] And when he comes up... [Mimicking Monkey Noises] We haven't done that yet. See me after the end of the tour. Paul! You're number one! You rock, man. I think there's an extraordinary situation when someone steps off the screen or steps from a place they've been revered-- You know what? They're flesh and blood. And it's almost overwhelming. The Beatles was banned in Cuba, 'cause they considered rock and roll the music of the enemy. So they showed The Beatles for the first time in 1 992. 1 992. They showed for the first time The Beatles on TV. Only those people that used to travel, you know, the sailors-- They were able to go abroad and buy the records. And we used to make a whole party with a 45. We'd have to make a whole party. Over and over and over and over. For us it's a big deal. Thank you so much. I'm your biggest fan. (Paul McCartney) I think, you know, just having been sort of very famous with The Beatles, people are at first, can be a little intimidated. But I make it my business to sort of put them at ease, coming from Liverpool and the kind of family I'm from. If people are intimidated, then I just sort of goof around and just have a bit of fun. You got to remember, this is show biz, you know. The most amazing thing about Paul and The Beatles and the songs that he wrote is that they are timeless and that-- as each generation comes along, the kids, the little ones, find them for themselves and it is renewed again, every generation. Come on, Fernando. I'm so sorry. This doesn't work. I love you so much. I love you. Thank you. I love you. I love you! Whooo! [Intro To "Lady Madonna'' Playing] Lady Madonna, children at your feet Wonder how you manage to make ends meet Who finds the money, when you pay the rent Did you know that money was heaven sent Friday night arrives without a suitcase Sunday morning's creeping like a nun Monday's child has learned to tie his boot lace See how they run Lady Madonna, baby at your breast Wonder how you manage to feed the rest Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba See how they run Lady Madonna, lying on her bed Listen to the music playing in your pretty little head Tuesday afternoon is never ending Wednesday morning papers didn't come Thursday night your stockings needed mending See how they run Lady Madonna, children at your feet Wonder how you manage to make ends meet Yeah, yeah, yeah [Music Ends] [Cheers And Applause] - Give me good news. - Driving U.S.A. We all live in a yellow submarine Yellow submarine, a yellow submarine What I'll take home with me will be the feeling I had before the show the first night it opened. In 20 years, I've never felt so pleased. Hey,Jude, baby, baby, don't let me down Even now, I can joke about it because it was so much fun. He's got all of the water on his head I love it. It's my job. It's what I do. The travelling is okay. After many tours I've done in my lifetime, privileged... This man is very special because he personally talks to everybody in the crew. He personally knows everybody on the staff. He has a moment for them all. - We're in showbiz! - Showbiz! All tours have been incredibly friendly. But this one beats them all-- for the camaraderie, the will to work together, and the atmosphere is created from Paul and from the band, and it flows down to us all. We've been through so many different things together. I want a picture, Bill. I want a picture of this. (Paul McCartney) One, two, three, cheese. Snickers. Yeah! I miss being away from home, but it sort of is what I do. Otherwise we wouldn't be here, away from our families and away from our homes. But, yeah, we're here because we love doing what we do. You supervise how many people? 400 and something. And none of them are ever going to see this. You don't have many friends outside of the business. Who are you really? The tour accountant. It can get very crazy, but the fact that we all try to help each other out, you kind of get through it. We've been doing this for years, and we know each other well. It's more of a family. Everybody feels very personally involved and they all feel that he knows they're there. And they want to do the best they can for him. And that's what we all want. It's a team for that reason. (Paul McCartney) We had such a great team on this tour. I loved them. And on the last night, they pulled a surprise on me by holding up these cards. Well, I was overcome by emotion. But I must say I could barely get the notes out of my throat. [Intro To "Long And Winding Road'' Playing] The long and winding road That leads To your door Will never disappear I've seen that road before It always leads me here Leads me to your door The wild and windy nights That the rain Washed away Has left a pool of tears Crying for the day Why keep me standing here Let me know the way Many times I've been alone And many times I've cried Anyway, you'll never know The many ways I've tried But still they lead me back To the long And winding road You left me standing here A long, long time ago Oh, yeah Don't keep me waiting here Lead me to your door Wooo, ooohh Still they lead me back To the long And winding road You left me standing here A long, long time ago Oh, yeah Don't keep me waiting here Don't keep me waiting Lead me to your door Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah [Cheers And Applause] Thank you. In case you're wondering, all these people with the hearts down in front here and in the middle there, this is all our crew. These are all the people who've been working on the tour. And if you're wondering why I was singing lousy, it was because it got to me. These people got to me. I'm sorry about that. Hey! That's allowed. Hey! You naughty people. When I was in 9th grade, I saw The Beatles anthology on channel seven, and I just fell in love with The Beatles. It felt like falling in love with them just as my mom did in the '60s. And I love them. And I wanted to take my boyfriend out here to see Paul. - Can I look at him? - What, am I singing with you? Yeah. "Yesterday, love was such an easy...'' I thought it was "All my troubles were so far away.'' But it's first, "Love was such an easy game to play.'' - That's the second verse. - You're right. Ready? Yesterday All my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm mmm-mmm-mmm And this guy's been with me more than 20 years, the guy who does all my guitars,John Hammel. [Cheers And Applause] You gotta catch it. I can't not catch 'em. I gotta catch 'em. The Hoefner. The most iconic guitar in the world today. And this guitar here-- This was the one that Paul played on the Ed Sullivan Show, the original "Yesterday'' on the Ed Sullivan Show. [Intro To "Yesterday'' Playing] Yesterday All my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be There's a shadow hanging over me Oh, yesterday came suddenly Why she had to go I don't know She wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday Why she had to go I don't know She wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm [Cheers And Applause] My new roadie. You've been great. Thank you! One, two, three, four... ["Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'' Playing] We're Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band We hope you have enjoyed the show Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band We're sorry but it's time to go We're Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band We'd like to thank you once again Thank you! Sergeant Pepper's one and only Lonely Hearts Club Band It's getting very near the end Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Goodnight, everybody! Oh, yeah, all right Are you going to be in my dreams Tonight Love you, love you Love you, love you - We will - Love you - We will - Love you And in the end The love you take Is equal to the love You make Ahh, ahh, ahh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah [Music Ends] [Cheers And Applause] [Audience Cheers Loudly] I don't feel like finishing. I don't feel like stopping. I think you have to have an urge to retire. And, you know, people who are in boring jobs look forward to that day to kick back, to the gardening, have a lot of time off and that. But I do have quite a bit of time off, and I love what I do. Yo! When the tour is over, I will take with me lots of great memories because it has been a really good tour. There's been so much camaraderie. You know, when you get on a good tour, the feeling spreads, and you find that people start to be really interested in-- "Oh, I see. My bit links there. " It's a really good feeling of a team at work. Everyone really cools out. So really, the best thing for me is the music that we've been playing. The crowds-- They've got warmer and warmer and wilder and wilder. - Cheers. - Cheers. - Cheers. And the backstage camaraderie, which has been fantastic. People who visit us say, "There is such a good feeling around. " You don't always get that, but on this tour, we've had it. And that's really special to me and will always be a good memory of this tour. Still they lead me back To the long And winding road - You wanna keep rocking? - Yeah! Let's keep rocking. ["I Saw Her Standing There'' Playing] Well, she was just seventeen You know what I mean And the way she looked was way beyond compare Now how could I dance with another, whoo When I saw her standing there Well, she looked at me And I, I could see That before too long I'd fall in love with her Now she wouldn't dance with another, whoo When I saw her standing there Well, my heart went boom When I crossed that room And I held her hand in mine Oh, we danced through the night And we held each other tight And before too long, I fell in love with her Now I'll never dance with another, whoo When I saw her standing there Aahhh! Well, my heart went boom When I crossed that room And I held her hand in mine Well, we danced through the night And we held each other tight And before too long, I fell in love with her Now I'll never dance with another, whoo When I saw her standing there Yeah, since I saw her standing there Well, since I saw her standing there Yeah [Music Ends] [Cheers And Applause] Thank you. |
